Solar screen is a popular product because it blocks 75% plus of harmful ultra violet rays allowing you to spend a bit more time in your bathing attire without taking a beating from the sun.  Customers enjoy it because they can lounge around their lanai without getting that ‘beat up’ feel from the Florida sun we all know.  Other customers with a green thumb call it ‘Orchid Screen’ because they have found that is UV blocking properties allow Orchids and other plants to thrive in an exterior lanai setting without damage from the sun.

We are frequently asked “how dark will it be?” “Will I be able to see out of it?” Its hard to answer those questions with words. In this case a picture might be worth a thousand excellent words. See for yourself and take a look at the pictures below (click them and they will enlarage) of a screen enclosure in Punta Gorda Florida with Solar Screen on the roof and standard Phifer 18/14 on the side walls . You will notice the top is slightly darker with black 75% solar screen then the side walls which is regular screen.
